Champawat: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 17 development projects worth ₹123.79 crore in Champawat. He inaugurated eight completed projects worth ₹27.79 crore and laid the foundation stones for nine new projects valued at ₹96 crore.
During the event, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Jim Corbett Trail, developed at a cost of ₹3.49 crore, and performed the Bhoomi Pujan for a modern City Centre to be constructed within the Roadways Bus Station complex.
CM Dhami reiterated his commitment to making Champawat a model district of Uttarakhand. He said the government is consistently working to integrate border areas into the mainstream of development. According to him, development is not limited to constructing roads and buildings—it is about creating employment opportunities for youth, empowering women, improving farmers’ livelihoods, and providing new business opportunities.
He announced that a modern multi-level parking and shopping complex (City Centre) would be built in Champawat town at an estimated cost of ₹62.33 crore. Additional projects include a Women’s Technology Park, a modern library, a knowledge centre, an open gym, and several other public facilities.
To promote sports among women, the government is establishing a Women’s Sports College at a cost of approximately ₹257 crore, along with a modern Science Centre costing ₹58.52 crore. The government is also focusing on increasing farmers’ income through agricultural colleges, development of cow shelters, and the adoption of modern farming techniques.
The Chief Minister said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Development as well as Heritage”, several religious destinations—including Maa Purnagiri Dham, Sharda Corridor, Goljyu Corridor, and Maa Varahi Dham—are being developed under the Manaskhand Temple Mala Mission, which is expected to boost religious tourism and generate employment for local residents.
He further informed that a modern ISBT costing ₹237.74 crore and a Media Centre worth ₹14 crore are being constructed in Tanakpur. Residential accommodation for sanitation workers in Lohaghat, a Soldiers’ Memorial in Banbasa, and a Multi-purpose Soldiers’ Centre in Pati are also under development.
The Chief Minister stated that the projects launched today would lay a strong foundation for a developed Champawat and help the district emerge as a model of inclusive and sustainable development, contributing significantly to the vision of a developed Uttarakhand.
The event was attended by District Panchayat Chairperson Anand Singh Adhikari, BJP District President Govind Samant, District Magistrate Manish Kumar, Superintendent of Police Rekha Yadav, public representatives, government officials, and a large number of local residents.
