CM Dhami Reviews Monsoon Preparedness, Char Dham Yatra and Dengue Prevention; Directs Officials to Work on the Ground

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the state’s preparedness for the monsoon, the Char Dham Yatra, dengue prevention, and disaster management, directing officials that public safety must remain the highest priority and that negligence at any level would not be tolerated. He instructed officials not to limit themselves to meetings but to visit the ground and personally monitor the arrangements.

The Chief Minister directed all District Magistrates and concerned agencies to remain on 24-hour alert. He instructed that there should be no delay in relief and rescue operations in the event of any disaster and that electricity, drinking water, road connectivity, and communication services should be restored on a priority basis. He also directed that machinery, equipment, and technical teams be pre-positioned in vulnerable areas.

During the meeting, officials informed that more than 4.465 million pilgrims have undertaken the Char Dham Yatra so far this year. The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure security, medical facilities, sanitation, traffic management, and heightened vigilance in landslide-prone areas along the pilgrimage routes. He also directed that adequate stocks of food grains, medicines, and other essential commodities be maintained in remote areas, with helicopter services kept ready whenever required.

Regarding dengue prevention, the Chief Minister directed urban local bodies and gram panchayats to launch intensive campaigns to eliminate waterlogging, conduct regular fogging, carry out anti-larval spraying, and implement public awareness drives. He also instructed officials to ensure adequate availability of testing kits, medicines, blood supplies, hospital beds, and medical personnel in all government hospitals.

The Chief Minister directed officials to complete all pending works related to last year’s disasters within the stipulated time, regularly review development projects, and ensure that announcements made by the Chief Minister are implemented on schedule. He also announced that the third phase of the ‘Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan Ke Dwar’ campaign will begin in a new format from September 15 to ensure that government welfare schemes reach the last person.

The Chief Minister also emphasised the need for safety audits of all bridges, cleaning of drains, development of alternative communication systems, keeping ambulances and emergency resources ready, and turning the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign into a people’s movement. He said that disaster management should be visible on the ground rather than remaining confined to paperwork, and warned that strict action would be taken against officials found negligent in matters of public interest.
