Dehradun/Haridwar: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while addressing the Mango Festival in Haridwar, described farmers as Uttarakhand’s greatest strength and said that the state government is continuously working to promote agriculture, horticulture, and increase farmers’ incomes. He said Haridwar would emerge as a new symbol of development and that events like the Mango Festival play a vital role in giving farmers greater recognition while providing market access for local produce.
The Chief Minister visited the exhibition of various mango varieties and interacted with farmers, saying that Haridwar’s mangoes have earned a distinct identity across the country for their taste and quality. He said that under the Apple Mission, the government is providing farmers with subsidies ranging from 70 to 80 percent. In addition, initiatives such as the Kiwi Mission, Dragon Fruit cultivation, aromatic and medicinal plants, and the Mehak Kranti programme are also being actively promoted.
CM Dhami said that under the Himalaya Brand, launched under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, products made by the women of Uttarakhand are gaining recognition both in India and abroad. He noted that improved quality and attractive packaging have led to a steady rise in demand for local products.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has set new benchmarks by implementing landmark decisions such as the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the anti-cheating law, and the anti-conversion law. He added that the government is committed to providing modern and quality education to children from all sections of society and is undertaking reforms in the education system accordingly.
He further stated that Uttarakhand is emerging as one of the country’s leading states in sustainable development, agriculture, horticulture, tourism, investment, and mining. He noted that the Central Government has awarded the state ₹200 crore for its outstanding performance in the mining sector.
The Chief Minister said that Haridwar must continue to move forward on its path of rapid development. He expressed confidence that events like the Mango Festival would not only encourage farmers but also open new avenues for growth in the agriculture and horticulture sectors.
