Dhami Government’s Raksha Bandhan Gift for Women: Free Bus Travel for Two Days

Dehradun: On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Uttarakhand government led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced a major benefit for women in the state. Women will be able to travel free of charge within Uttarakhand on Uttarakhand Transport Corporation buses on August 28 and 29, 2026. No bus fare will be charged from women during these two days.

The Uttarakhand government has issued an order in this regard, directing the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation to take the necessary action. According to the government order, women will receive a 100% fare waiver on Uttarakhand Transport Corporation buses on both days on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

Relief for Women Travelling to Their Parental Homes

A large number of women travel to their parental homes and to meet other family members during Raksha Bandhan. The government’s decision will provide women with safe and convenient public transportation during the festival while also reducing their travel expenses.

Government to Reimburse the Transport Corporation

The government order clearly states that the expenses incurred by the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation as a result of providing free travel to women will be reimbursed by the state government. The Transport Department has directed the corporation to take immediate necessary action in accordance with the government order.

The government’s decision is being viewed as an important initiative aimed at providing convenience and financial relief to women in Uttarakhand on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
