Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has transferred and posted eight IPS officers with immediate effect on administrative grounds, bringing changes to several key police assignments across the state.
The reshuffle includes new postings for the IGP, Border Range, Amritsar, and the Commissioners of Police and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) in Amritsar, Patiala, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Bathinda and Mansa.
The order was issued by the Department of Home Affairs, Home-I Branch, with the approval of the competent authority. The officers have been directed to join their new places of posting immediately.
Gurpreet Singh Bhullar Posted as IGP Border Range
Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, IPS (SPS:2004), who was awaiting posting, has been posted as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Border Range, Amritsar.
He replaces Harmanbir Singh, IPS (SPS:2010), who was serving as DIG, Border Range, Amritsar, while also holding the additional charge of Commissioner of Police, Amritsar.
The reshuffle separates the two responsibilities, with Harmanbir Singh now taking over as the full-time Commissioner of Police, Amritsar.
Harmanbir Singh Becomes CP Amritsar
Harmanbir Singh, IPS (SPS:2010), has been posted as Commissioner of Police, Amritsar.
Prior to the latest order, he was serving as DIG, Border Range, Amritsar, and was additionally holding the charge of Commissioner of Police, Amritsar.
His new posting makes him the regular police commissioner of the important border city.
Bhagirath Singh Meena Moved From Mansa to CPO Punjab
Bhagirath Singh Meena, IPS (RR:2013), who was serving as SSP, Mansa, has been transferred and posted as AIG, Personnel-1, CPO, Punjab.
He replaces Suhail Qasim Mir, IPS (RR:2017), who has been moved to another field assignment as SSP Bathinda.
The transfer shifts Meena from a district policing role to an important personnel-related assignment at the Punjab Police headquarters.
Varun Sharma Gets SSP SAS Nagar Charge
Varun Sharma, IPS (RR:2014), has been transferred from his position as SSP, Patiala, and posted as SSP, SAS Nagar (Mohali).
He replaces Harman Deep Singh Hans, IPS (RR:2015), who has been transferred from SAS Nagar and posted as SSP, Patiala.
The two postings effectively result in an exchange of SSP responsibilities between Patiala and SAS Nagar.
Suhail Qasim Mir Posted as SSP Bathinda
Suhail Qasim Mir, IPS (RR:2017), who was serving as AIG, Personnel-1, CPO, Punjab, has been posted as SSP, Bathinda.
He replaces Jyoti Yadav, IPS (RR:2019), who has been transferred from the Bathinda SSP post.
Mir’s appointment brings another officer from the state police headquarters into a key district field assignment.
Jyoti Yadav Transferred to 82nd Battalion PAP
Jyoti Yadav, IPS (RR:2019), has been transferred from her post as SSP, Bathinda, and posted as Commandant, 82nd Battalion, Punjab Armed Police (PAP), Chandigarh.
She replaces Balwinder Singh, PPS, in the commandant’s post.
The move shifts Yadav from district policing to a battalion command assignment within the Punjab Armed Police.
Vaibhav Choudhary Gets SSP Mansa Posting
Vaibhav Choudhary, IPS (RR:2020), who was serving as SP Headquarters, Patiala, has been posted as SSP, Mansa.
He replaces Bhagirath Singh Meena, who has moved to the post of AIG, Personnel-1, CPO, Punjab.
Choudhary’s appointment also represents a move from a headquarters assignment to a district-level policing role.

The Punjab Government has directed all the officers concerned to join their respective new places of posting immediately.
The order was issued on September 1, 2026, by Alok Shekhar, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Punjab, Department of Home Affairs, with the approval of the competent authority.
The reshuffle brings changes across both senior police headquarters assignments and field-level district commands, with several officers moving between SSP posts and specialised administrative or armed-police responsibilities.
