Dehradun. Children displaying exemplary courage in Uttarakhand will now be honored annually with the Child Bravery Award by the state government. Following the announcement made by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Independence Day, the Women Empowerment and Child Development Department has prepared the blueprint for the scheme.
Under this initiative, one brave child will be selected every year from each of the state’s 13 districts. Each selected child will receive a cash prize of ₹51,000 and a citation from the Chief Minister. Applications for this year’s awards will be invited shortly.
Children Up to 18 Years Eligible
The scheme will cover children up to 18 years of age who have performed acts of courage, such as saving someone’s life. Additionally, children showcasing exceptional and daring achievements in sports, adventure sports, and other fields will also be eligible for selection.
Women Empowerment Department to Act as Nodal Department
The Women Empowerment and Child Development Department has been designated as the nodal department for the scheme. The department will operate the Child Bravery Award scheme in the state on the lines of the central government model. The government believes this initiative will recognize and honor the bravery of young children while boosting their morale.
Rekha Arya, Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Development, stated that the blueprint for the state-level Child Bravery Award scheme has been modeled after the central framework. Its primary objective is to encourage and honor the courage displayed by brave children.
