Khatima: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the 14th Deepawali Mela organized by Bharat Vikas Parishad on Monday. During the event, he announced the construction of 20 new Chhath ghats in Udham Singh Nagar, Dehradun, and Champawat districts.
These include various locations in Kashipur, Jaspur, Rudrapur, Bazpur, Gadarpur, Sitarganj, Khatima, and Kichha in Udham Singh Nagar. Additionally, Chhath puja ghats will be built on the right bank of the Tons River in Premnagar (Dehradun), the bank of the Yamuna River in Baruwala (Vikasnagar), and in Banbasa (Champawat).
Extending Deepawali greetings, the Chief Minister stated that service- and tradition-oriented endeavors by organizations like Bharat Vikas Parishad play a vital role in uniting society and giving it a positive direction.
He said that the state government is advancing the revival of religious sites, preservation of cultural heritage, and development works. The restoration of Kedarnath Dham—damaged during the disaster—into a grand and divine form has progressed rapidly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On the lines of the four-धाम development in Kedarkhand, reconstruction work and expansion of basic infrastructure at ancient temples and religious sites in Manaskhand are also underway.
Dhami stated that the government’s objective is to preserve and propagate the state’s culture alongside development. The Ganga Corridor in Haridwar-Rishikesh and the Sharda Corridor on the banks of Maa Sharda are advancing at a cost of approximately ₹3,000 crore. To promote the study of Indian culture, philosophy, and history, a Centre for Hindu Studies has also been established at Doon University.
District Panchayat President Ajay Maurya, Minister of State Gambhir Singh Dhami, Mohani Pokhariya, Kishan Singh, Santosh Gaurav, Nagar Palika President Ramesh Chandra Joshi, General Secretary Ramesh Joshi, District Vice-Presidents Amit Kumar Pandey and Himanshu Bisht, and District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadoria, along with other public representatives and officials, were present.
