Haridwar/Dehradun: Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri was given a final farewell with full state honors on Wednesday. His last rites were performed at the Khadkhadi cremation ground in Haridwar. Army and police personnel paid their final respects with a guard of honor.
A huge crowd gathered during Khanduri’s funeral procession. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and several senior leaders paid tribute to him. Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari were also expected to attend the condolence program.
Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan said that Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri’s contribution to the development of the country would always be remembered. He stated that the nation had lost a distinguished soldier, an able administrator, and a politician of exceptional integrity.
Earlier, the Vice President visited Khanduri’s residence in Vasant Vihar, Dehradun, where he offered floral tributes to the departed leader and met the grieving family members.
According to reports, Major General B. C. Khanduri had been hospitalized for the past 49 days. He was admitted to a private hospital on April 1 and was undergoing treatment under medical supervision. Following a mild cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning, he passed away at the age of 91.
Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri had been unwell for a long time. His demise has caused a wave of grief across Uttarakhand.
