Dehradun: The impact of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s directives has been visible in the restoration of connectivity at Tamak Nala. Acting swiftly, the district administration and concerned departments installed hume pipes and constructed a temporary motor road at the site. Vehicular movement on the route has now resumed.
The Chief Minister had directed officials to prepare a temporary bridge and restore traffic at the earliest. Following the restoration of connectivity in record time, he congratulated the district administration and teams of the concerned departments for their efforts.
The valley bridge at Tamak Nala was washed away after the stream swelled following heavy rainfall in the Niti Valley, disrupting vehicular movement in the area. Chief Minister Dhami had been continuously monitoring the situation and regularly sought updates on relief and rescue operations and restoration of the route from Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman, Garhwal Commissioner Anand Swarup and Chamoli District Magistrate.
In view of the seriousness of the situation, teams from the district administration and concerned departments immediately reached the site and began work on a war footing. Following the installation of hume pipes and construction of a temporary motor road, vehicular movement has now resumed.
Search for Missing Person Continues
The search for a person who went missing after the valley bridge at Tamak Nala was washed away continued for the second day. Teams from the district administration, police, Indian Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Border Roads Organisation (BRO) are jointly conducting search and rescue operations. Intensive searches are being carried out along the riverbank and at other possible locations in the surrounding area.
The district administration continues to closely monitor the situation at the site. Special attention is being paid to safety standards in view of the weather conditions and the water level in Tamak Nala. The administration has appealed to local residents and vehicle drivers to travel cautiously on the temporary route and follow the safety instructions issued by officials deployed at the site.
