Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has sanctioned around ₹74 crore for development and disaster-related works in various parts of Uttarakhand. The approved funds cover infrastructure development, repairs to schools damaged by disasters, flood protection, reconstruction of damaged roads, construction of a helipad and various disaster-management activities.
An amount of ₹8.91 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of a helipad at Beda-Majhada (Karimpur) in Bageshwar district, while ₹4.99 crore has been approved for sewer-line works and works related to households and public toilets that were left uncovered in Gangotri Dham. A further ₹8.89 crore has been sanctioned for the remaining works under the prosecution establishment at the Prosecution Office.
To repair basic infrastructure in schools damaged by disasters and ensure continuity of teaching activities, ₹15 crore each has been sanctioned for schools under secondary education and elementary education, taking the total allocation to ₹30 crore. In addition, ₹1.08 crore has been approved for relief and rescue, recovery and reconstruction, as well as preparedness and capacity-building activities in eight districts.
An amount of ₹4.01 crore has been sanctioned to protect residential buildings in seven villages in the Khatima area of Udham Singh Nagar district from flooding caused by rivers and streams. Another ₹4.62 crore has been approved for flood protection works along the right bank of the Jagbuda River at Sisaiya, Melaghat and the SSB camp office along the India-Nepal border.
In Chamoli district, ₹3.18 crore has been sanctioned towards pending payments for JCB and Pokland machines used to reopen disaster-damaged roads and clear debris. Meanwhile, ₹3.27 crore has been approved for a solid-waste management project in the Herbertpur municipal area.
To strengthen the disaster-management system, ₹2 crore has been sanctioned for maintenance of the earthquake early-warning system, ₹1.90 crore for satellite-phone recharges, ₹40 lakh for maintenance of various equipment and honorariums for experts, ₹60 lakh for mock drills, and ₹18 lakh for the honorarium of personnel deployed with the Disaster Management Authority.
Motor Road in Chaubattakhal Named After Martyr Mandeep Singh Negi
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also approved renaming the Chalkudia-Masmoli-Naukholi motor road in the Chaubattakhal Assembly constituency as the Shaheed Mandeep Singh Negi Motor Road. The government’s decision will serve as a tribute to the memory of martyr Mandeep Singh Negi.
