Chief Secretary chairs review meeting of National Ayush Mission, Uttarakhand; various issues discussed

Dehradun. A review meeting of the National Ayush Mission, Uttarakhand, was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. Various issues, including strengthening Ayush services, upgrading hospitals, and financial support from the central government, were discussed at the meeting.

Directives to upgrade 30- and 10-bed Ayush hospitals

The Chief Secretary directed the effective promotion and better implementation of 30- and 10-bed Ayush hospitals. He urged strengthening the quality and accessibility of services at these institutions to ensure better Ayush healthcare facilities for the general public.

Development of “Model Ayush Medicine” through Allopathy-Ayurveda Coordination

The Chief Secretary emphasized the need for the Allopathy and Ayurveda departments to work in coordination to develop Uttarakhand’s Ayush medical system as a “model medical system.”

OPD Analysis and Scrutiny of PPP Hospitals

The meeting directed a comprehensive analysis of Ayush OPDs operating in the state. Additionally, effective implementation of the Centers of Excellence should be ensured and a detailed review of the performance of AYUSH hospitals operating on PPP mode should be conducted.

Review of MoUs with Private Partners

The Chief Secretary directed the Secretary of AYUSH to review the MoUs signed with private partners. They should be briefed on the state’s developed AYUSH ecosystem, listen to their concerns, and share the required support.

Approval of a Demand Proposal for 52 Crore

The AYUSH Department submitted a demand proposal for ₹52 crore to the Central Government, which was approved by the Chief Secretary. Under the proposal, 13 Supraja Centers (based on Ayurvedic antenatal care) will be established as Centers of Excellence in 13 districts this year. These centers will include Panchakarma facilities, specialist medical care, and trained assistants. The approved proposal will be sent to the Government of India soon.

Progress of AYUSH Hospitals

The AYUSH hospitals in Pathri (Haridwar), Bhimtal (Nainital), and Tanakpur (Champawat) are expected to be completed this fiscal year, while construction is underway in Haldwani (Nainital).

Proposal for Mobile Medical Units in Each District

The meeting also proposed the operation of mobile medical units in each district to provide AYUSH services in remote areas.

Digital Initiatives: ‘Ayur Tarangini’ and ‘Ayur Vani’

The monthly e-magazine ‘Ayur Tarangini’ is available on the AYUSH Department’s website, providing information on AYUSH medicine. Awareness messages are also being disseminated to the public through the ‘Ayur Vani’ podcast series.

Secretary Ranjana Rajguru, Additional Secretary Vijay Kumar Jogdandev, Navneet Pandey, and other relevant officials were present at the meeting.
