Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan held a meeting with all District Magistrates and senior government officials through video conferencing at the Secretariat on Tuesday to review cases pending at the government level from various districts. He directed officials to ensure the time-bound disposal of matters related to development and public welfare on a priority basis.
The Chief Secretary said there should be no unnecessary delay in cases pending at the government level. While effectively resolving issues faced by the districts, development works should be completed within the stipulated timeframe. He directed that district-level committee meetings be held regularly and that practical difficulties arising during the implementation of schemes be brought to the attention of departmental secretaries.
The Health Department was directed to provide a list of doctors who have been absent for a long period without information or permission and take action against them as per the rules. He also directed that matters related to the appointment of doctors and paramedical staff be disposed of on priority.
The Chief Secretary stressed the serious implementation of the e-Office system so that files could be disposed of more quickly. The meeting also discussed various issues, including filling vacant posts, creating new posts as required, land transfers, approval of development projects and budget availability.
He directed that meetings of district-level telecommunications committees be held regularly and that network-related problems be resolved promptly. He also instructed officials to complete the necessary action within the next 15 days to ensure the availability of Chief Education Officers and Block Education Officers.
The meeting also raised the issue of the cut-off date for financial assistance provided for the marriage of daughters belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and widowed women. The districts requested changes in the existing system so that eligible beneficiaries whose marriages are scheduled in March can avail themselves of the benefits of the scheme.
The Chief Secretary said pending cases and problems raised by the districts should be resolved on priority so that the benefits of government schemes reach the general public in a timely manner.
