Dehradun: During the 19th meeting of the State Ganga Committee, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan directed officials to strengthen sewage management and river conservation measures.
He instructed that all Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in the state be monitored round the clock.
Key directives included:
- Installation of CCTV cameras at the inlet and outlet of every STP.
- Development of a real-time monitoring system within one month at district and state levels.
- Regular surprise inspections by the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board.
- Expansion of sewerage networks in Haridwar, Roorkee, Rishikesh, and Dehradun.
- Increased reuse of treated wastewater for irrigation and other beneficial purposes.
The meeting was attended by senior government officials, pollution control authorities, and district magistrates from across the state.
