CM Dhami Attacks Congress Over Tharu Tribal Land Issue, Says Congress Is “Putting Old Wine in a New Bottle”

Khatima: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami strongly targeted the Congress while addressing local Panchayat and municipal representatives during his Khatima visit over the issue of Tharu tribal lands. Describing the statements of Congress leaders as “old wine in a new bottle,” the Chief Minister said that Congress is once again trying to spread confusion by reviving old issues.

CM Dhami said that during the 2022 Assembly elections as well, Congress had attempted to create a narrative through similar allegations. He remarked that this “statement-like coin” of Congress will not work again. The Chief Minister said that claims about land being snatched away in the Khatima region are completely misleading.

The Chief Minister stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP government is working towards granting citizenship to one lakh refugees who came from Bangladesh and has also distributed leases for more than 4,000 acres of ceiling land in Udham Singh Nagar. In such a situation, he said, the question of snatching anyone’s land does not arise.

Addressing public representatives present at the event, CM Dhami asked whether any land belonging to a Tharu tribal family had been taken away in Khatima over the past four and a half years. He said Congress is trying to mislead the public, but people now understand the truth.

Reassuring people from the stage, the Chief Minister said that as long as he is there, the interests of no individual or community in Khatima will be harmed. He added that the government is committed to protecting the interests of all sections of society and giving priority to development works.
