Khatima: The corporate sector has stepped forward to strengthen solid and liquid waste management. On Friday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off 15 waste management vehicles in Khatima. These include seven electric waste collection vehicles provided by Nestle India under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Nestle India provided one electric waste collection vehicle each for Dharmpur, Chhatarpur, Bindukhera, Keeratpur, Bagwala, Danpur, and Nagla Tarai. On this occasion, health and nutrition supplies were also provided by Britannia.
The Chief Minister stated that the government is continuously working to strengthen sanitation systems and environmental protection across rural and urban areas. Alongside modern resources, public participation and corporate sector support are vital for effective solid and liquid waste management. The self-sustaining sanitation model being developed at the Gram Panchayat level will make waste collection and disposal systems more efficient.
71 Clusters Across 373 Gram Panchayats
Chief Development Officer Divesh Sasni informed that under the District Magistrate’s guidance, an action plan for solid and liquid waste management has been prepared across 373 Gram Panchayats in Udham Singh Nagar through 71 clusters. Agreements have been executed with concerned urban local bodies for regular waste collection and disposal in rural areas adjoining municipalities and major markets.
He added that a fleet of 231 vehicles has been assembled for waste management in the district. This includes 134 e-rickshaws and 75 tractor-trolleys under the Swachh Bharat Mission, alongside vehicles received through CSR and other schemes. Trash compactors operated by the Zila Panchayat are also functional across various development blocks.
The event was attended by Zila Panchayat Chairperson Ajay Maurya, Mayor Vikas Sharma, Block Pramukh Reena Gautam, District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati, Chief Development Officer Divesh Sasni, Additional Secretary to the CM & Member Secretary (CSR) Manmohan Mainali, Director of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability at Nestle India Kunwar Himmat Singh, along with other public representatives and officials.
