Dehradun: Commending the five-year tenure of Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd.), Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that his contributions to Uttarakhand’s development, education, youth encouragement, women empowerment, and the welfare of ex-servicemen have been significant. At a farewell ceremony organized at the Chief Minister’s Residence, CM Dhami extended his best wishes to the Governor for a successful tenure and appreciated his service to the state.
The Chief Minister said that with his experience, visionary thinking, discipline, and positive outlook, the Governor provided a new direction to subjects related to the state’s development. Under his guidance, education, higher education, research, skill development, and the overall development of youth received a boost. He inspired young people toward innovation, entrepreneurship, national service, and excellence. His role in women empowerment and integrating all sections of society into the mainstream of development was also remarkable.
Special Emphasis on Welfare of Soldiers and Ex-Servicemen
CM Dhami noted that the Governor always honored Uttarakhand’s military tradition and the sacrifices of brave soldiers. His sensitivity toward the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families, along with his efforts to instill patriotism, discipline, and the spirit of nation-building among the youth, has been commendable.
The Chief Minister added that while discharging his constitutional responsibilities, the Governor maintained seamless coordination with the state government, administration, educational institutions, and various sections of society. His gentle personality, simple conduct, and deep personal attachment to Uttarakhand will always be remembered. CM Dhami wished him a healthy, joyful, and successful future life.
‘Affection of Uttarakhand’s People is the Most Precious Achievement’
At the farewell function, Governor Gurmeet Singh expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister, state government, administration, public representatives, various institutions, and the people of the state. He said that serving as the Governor of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand was a matter of immense pride and privilege for him, providing an opportunity to closely experience the state’s rich cultural traditions, spiritual heritage, natural beauty, and the warmth of its people.
The Governor remarked that the affection, trust, and cooperation he received from the people of Uttarakhand were among the most precious achievements of his tenure. Their simple nature, warm hospitality, dedication to the nation, and connection to their culture will continue to inspire him always.
He stated that over the past five years, he had the opportunity to work on issues related to state development, education, women empowerment, youth encouragement, honor for ex-servicemen, and public welfare. The state government, administration, educational institutions, social organizations, and the general public played a crucial role in advancing these efforts.
Youth Power and Women Empowerment Termed the Pillars of Development
The Governor emphasized that the energy, talent, and resolve of the youth are the greatest strengths of any state. The youth of Uttarakhand possess immense potential to contribute to innovation and nation-building. Furthermore, the growing participation, self-reliance, and social leadership of women are key foundations for the state’s bright future.
He highlighted that Uttarakhand’s brave soldiers, ex-servicemen, people living in border areas, and the state’s spiritual and cultural heritage hold special significance for him. The Governor wished for the continuous progress, peace, prosperity, and happiness of the state.
Apart from the farewell ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s Residence, people from various fields, dignitaries, and officials also met the Governor at Lok Bhavan to extend their best wishes for his tenure. The Governor expressed his appreciation for everyone’s affection and support. Public representatives, MLAs, senior officials, and other distinguished guests also attended the event.
