Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a detailed review of the ongoing construction work at Uttarakhand Sports University in Gaulapar at the Chief Minister’s residence. The Sports Department briefed him on the progress of sports facilities, academic buildings, training centres, hostels, the sports science centre, and research facilities being developed on the university campus.
The Chief Minister directed officials to complete all construction works within the stipulated timelines and stressed that there must be no compromise whatsoever on quality. He said the Sports University would not merely be an educational institution but an important institution capable of giving a new direction to the future of sports in Uttarakhand.
He instructed officials to develop the university in accordance with the state’s new sports policy, sports vision, and long-term plans. Special emphasis should be placed on modern training facilities, international-standard sports grounds, indoor and outdoor sports complexes, sports science and sports medicine facilities, high-performance training centres, and advanced sports research infrastructure.
Dhami said the government’s objective is to establish Uttarakhand as a leading centre of sporting excellence in the country. Through the Sports University, the state’s youth will gain new opportunities in sports education, training, research, and employment.
He said the government is working continuously to identify sporting talent and prepare athletes for national and international competitions. Along with expanding sports facilities at the district and block levels, athletes are being provided support for training, equipment, nutrition, and participation in competitions.
The Chief Minister directed officials to conduct regular reviews of the university project, strictly follow technical standards, and ensure effective coordination and transparency throughout the construction process.
Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya, Special Principal Secretary Amit Sinha, and senior officials of the Sports Department were present at the meeting.
