Dehradun: Amid the political controversy surrounding the alleged misappropriation of offerings at Badrinath Dham, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the government would not tolerate any negligence or irregularity in the matter. He stated that a high-level inquiry committee has been constituted and that the investigation will be conducted in a completely impartial manner.
The Chief Minister said Badrinath Dham is a sacred place of faith for millions of devotees, and there should be no room for any irregularities at such a revered shrine. He assured that the inquiry committee would uncover the facts through a fair investigation and that strict action would be taken against those found guilty in accordance with the law.
Responding to political criticism, the Chief Minister accused the opposition of politicizing issues related to public faith for political gains. He said such politics undermines the dignity and sanctity of religious institutions, while the government’s only objective is to act on the basis of facts without showing leniency at any level.
The Uttarakhand government has constituted a three-member high-level inquiry committee, headed by the Garhwal Divisional Commissioner, to investigate the alleged irregularities in offerings received at Badrinath Temple. The committee also includes Dr. Sandeep Tiwari, Managing Director of the National Health Mission (NHM), and Jagat Singh Chauhan, Director (Finance), Health Department.
According to the order issued by the Religious Affairs Department, the committee will conduct a detailed investigation into the alleged irregularities related to temple donations and offerings and submit its report and recommendations to the government within 15 days. Separately, the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee (BKTC) has also constituted its own committee to examine the matter.
