Dehradun: Following the deadly clash between two groups in Bairagiwala under the Sahaspur police station area, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami strongly condemned the incident and warned of strict action against those responsible. He stated that any violent or extremist mindset attempting to disturb the peace and social harmony of Uttarakhand would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The Chief Minister said that the incident in Dehradun is highly condemnable and emphasized that those who dare to challenge the law would face such severe punishment that others would think many times before committing similar acts in the future.
Minor Dispute Turned Into Deadly Violence
On Saturday, an argument between two groups in Bairagiwala, under the Sahaspur police station jurisdiction, escalated into a violent clash. One young man lost his life, while three others sustained injuries. The incident created tension in the area, prompting the deployment of a large police force.
Arson and Stone-Pelting Increased Tensions
On Sunday morning, angry residents reportedly set fire to areas around the accused persons’ homes and engaged in stone-pelting. Several people were reported injured in the unrest. Police and administrative authorities have been closely monitoring the situation to maintain order.
Three Accused Arrested, Bulldozer Action Taken
Police have arrested three accused individuals so far, while efforts are ongoing to locate others involved. The district administration also carried out action against allegedly illegal constructions at the homes of the three accused, demolishing them using bulldozers.
Tight Security Arrangements in the Area
Following the incident, heavy police deployment has been made throughout the area. Authorities stated that every activity is being closely monitored and strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to spread rumors or disturb public peace.
