Chamoli: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced several significant initiatives aimed at boosting tourism and employment opportunities in the border region of Niti Valley, giving a fresh direction to the area’s development. Addressing the prize distribution ceremony of the Niti Extreme Ultra Run virtually in Chamoli district, the Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to developing border regions as new tourism hubs.
The Chief Minister announced that community-based tourism will be promoted in the villages of Niti, Malari, Kosha, Farkiya, Bampa, Gurguti, Kailashpur, and Mahargaon. Under this initiative, community homestays will be developed, and essential infrastructure for rural tourism will be created.
He further stated that signages and viewpoints will be developed at key villages and tourist destinations in Niti Valley to improve visitor convenience and encourage tourism activities in the region.
To promote border tourism in the Rimkhim and Barahoti areas, the Chief Minister also announced the establishment of “Seema Darshan Kendras” (Border Viewing Centres). In addition, infrastructure development will be undertaken at the Dupfudhar Ground in Gamshali village, enabling better facilities for adventure tourism activities and large-scale events.
The Chief Minister said that expanding tourism activities in border regions would generate employment opportunities for local youth and strengthen the regional economy. He expressed confidence that the successful implementation of these projects would help Niti Valley establish itself as one of the country’s prominent tourist destinations.
The announcements have been welcomed by local residents and stakeholders in the tourism sector. It is believed that these initiatives will accelerate tourism growth, self-employment opportunities, and infrastructure development in the border areas.
