Foundation stone laid for reconstruction of Varahi Dham Temple in Devidhura; CM Pushkar Dhami says spiritual heritage of Devbhoomi will be given a grand form

Dehradun/Champawat: Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday virtually addressed the foundation stone laying ceremony for the reconstruction of the Varahi Dham temple in Devidhura, Champawat, from the Chief Minister’s residence.

The Chief Minister said that the commencement of reconstruction work at Varahi Dham is a moment of good fortune for everyone. He stated that this ancient shrine of Maa Varahi has been a center of faith, devotion, and शक्ति (power) for centuries. The famous Bagwal fair held here is a unique blend of bravery, tradition, and collective faith, and has been declared a state fair by the government.

He said that the reconstruction of Maa Varahi Temple will give it a more grand and attractive appearance. The shrine will become a symbol not only of faith but also of development and prosperity. He added that Char Dham, Shakti Peeths, Siddh Peeths, and other temples in the state are living symbols of Sanatan tradition and cultural identity.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, work is being done not only on development but also on the preservation and revival of religious and cultural sites. The state government is continuously working to give a grand form to the cultural heritage of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.

He added that the government is working towards establishing Uttarakhand as the spiritual capital of the world. Under this initiative, beautification of ancient temples in Kedarkhand as well as Manaskhand is being carried out.

The Chief Minister informed that to promote tourism in the Champawat region, the Sharda Corridor is being developed. The redevelopment of Sharda Ghat at a cost of ₹179 crore has been initiated, while work is also underway on the Goljyu Corridor project costing approximately ₹430 crore.

Additionally, an आधुनिक athletic synthetic track is being constructed at Chhamaniya in Lohaghat at a cost of about ₹10 crore, and a women’s sports college is being built at a cost of around ₹257 crore. Construction of buildings and hostels at Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya is also underway at a cost of about ₹15 crore.

He said that road connectivity is being strengthened with renovation and improvement works worth about ₹24 crore completed in the Reetha Sahib area. Work on the Shaheed Shiromani Chilkoti motor road is also progressing rapidly.

He added that an administrative building for a fire station is being constructed in Lohaghat, while a police outpost has been completed in Devidhura, further strengthening security in the region.

The Chief Minister said that the government’s aim is to ensure that development reaches the last person in society. He emphasized that under the double-engine government, every rupee sent from Delhi and Dehradun is reaching beneficiaries directly through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) with transparency.

On this occasion, BJP District President Govind Samant, Varahi Shakti Peeth Trust patron Laxman Singh Lamgadia, President Hira Ballabh Joshi, Nirmal Mahara, Shyam Narayan Pandey, and others were present.
