Dehradun: The two-day Uttarakhand Global Investor Summit was held in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, on December 8 and 9, 2023. During the summit, MoUs worth ₹3.57 lakh crore were signed. On Tuesday, a high-level review meeting was held at the Secretariat, chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, to discuss the progress of the MoUs signed under the Uttarakhand Global Investor Summit and their implementation. The meeting included a detailed discussion on the current status of MoUs signed by various departments, ground-level progress, obstacles, and future strategies.
Officials informed the meeting that 1,779 MoUs worth approximately ₹3,57,693 crore were signed under the Global Investor Summit, of which MoUs worth ₹1,06,953 crore have already been implemented. The CM termed this a significant achievement for Uttarakhand’s industrial and economic future, stating that it is direct evidence of investor confidence, better law and order, good governance, and an industry-friendly environment in the state. He said that there are ample opportunities to further enhance this positive outcome, which should be leveraged in the best interest of the state.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Dhami directed all departments to immediately resolve any obstacles encountered at any stage in the implementation of MoUs and projects. He instructed that a nodal officer be appointed in each relevant department to continuously monitor the implementation of the MoUs. If any policy requires amendment, simplification, or relaxation, a proposal should be prepared and pursued promptly. Regular dialogue and interaction with industrialists should be increased, and they should be informed about improvements related to law and order, ease of doing business, digitalization, simplified processes, and the industry-friendly ecosystem in the state. The Chief Minister instructed that there should be absolutely no unnecessary delays in the implementation of projects, decisions should be taken promptly, work should be completed according to a clear timeline, and no pending issues should be left unresolved. The Chief Minister also said that some departments are doing excellent work, which he praised. The CM directed the Tourism Department to create a favorable environment for investment in the hospitality sector in areas with significant potential for hotel construction, such as Pithoragarh, Kainchi Dham, and other major tourist destinations.
However, during the meeting, the Tourism Department informed that the department is working towards preparing area-based focus policies for special tourist zones in various regions.
With the aim of further strengthening industries, the Chief Minister instructed the Industries Department to hold monthly meetings of the Industry Friends Committee in all districts of the state, ensuring the resolution of industry-related issues and the effective implementation of industry-friendly decisions. The CM said that Uttarakhand is the focal point of Indian culture, spirituality, and ancient glorious heritage. Keeping this in mind, he instructed that necessary groundwork be done for the establishment of a university based on the balance of ecology and economy, further action be taken on previous instructions related to the Hindu Studies Center and the Oriental Research Center, and that work related to Spiritual Zone Development, the temple and other constructive construction work in Bhararisain, and the establishment of an Ayurveda AIIMS be prioritized.
