Dehradun: Preparations have accelerated in the capital for the proposed visit of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to Uttarakhand on November 6. During his visit, he will present the prestigious President’s Police Colour to the Uttarakhand Police and participate in a public meeting and padyatra organized at the Parade Ground. The district administration and police have begun finalizing arrangements for security, traffic, and venues.
Amit Shah’s visit will commence with a ceremony at the Police Lines, where he will present the President’s Police Colour to the Uttarakhand Police and take the salute at the police parade. The President’s Police Colour is considered a distinctive honor for any police force, symbolizing its services, dedication, and notable achievements. Uttarakhand Police has made special preparations for the ceremony, with personnel appearing in new formal uniforms.
The new identity of the Uttarakhand Police will also be a major center of attraction on this occasion. The new emblem incorporates the Ashok Pillar, Satyameva Jayate, a golden laurel wreath, the Himalayas, and a river, reflecting national pride, truth, justice, excellence, and the geographical identity of the state. The police flag has also been redesigned; replacing the old flag unveiled in 2008, a new flag with a dark blue background has been adopted. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had approved the new emblem and police identity on October 21, 2026.
Keeping the Home Minister’s visit in mind, special security arrangements are being put in place at the Police Lines and Parade Ground. Police and administrative officials are inspecting venues to review arrangements. Action plans are being formulated keeping VVIP movement, traffic management, parking, and general public movement in view. Special attention is also being paid to police deployment and surveillance arrangements given the likelihood of a large gathering attending the public meeting.
