Dehradun: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Dehradun on Friday for a two-day visit to Uttarakhand. She was warmly received at Jolly Grant Airport by Governor Gurmit Singh and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. During her stay, the President will spend the night at Rashtrapati Niketan in Dehradun.
Third Visit to Dehradun Within a Year
This marks President Murmu’s third visit to Dehradun within a year. In June 2025, she inaugurated Rashtrapati Niketan and Rashtrapati Tapovan. Later, in November 2025, she returned to inaugurate the Horse Arena and a foot-over bridge on the main route at Rashtrapati Niketan. Her third consecutive visit is being viewed as significant for the state.
Chief Guest at IMA Passing Out Parade
On Saturday, the President will attend the Passing Out Parade of the 158th Regular Course and the 141st Technical Graduate Course at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) as the chief guest. She will review the parade and address Gentleman Cadets from India and abroad.
Tight Security Arrangements
In view of the President’s visit, extensive security measures have been put in place across Dehradun. Additional security personnel have been deployed in sensitive areas, and the traffic police have implemented a special diversion plan.
Traffic Diversion Plan
- Special traffic arrangements will remain in effect from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
- The IMA area will be declared a Zero Zone during the Passing Out Parade, with normal traffic restricted.
- Vehicles traveling from Ballupur to Premnagar will be diverted via the Rangharwala Tiraaha–Mithi Beri route.
- Small vehicles traveling from Premnagar toward the city will be redirected through the MT Gate–Mithi Beri Gate–Rangharwala route.
- Heavy vehicles coming from Selaqui and Bhaauwala will be routed toward the city via Dhulkot Tiraaha–Singhniwala–Nayagaon.
- Heavy vehicles traveling from Dehradun to Vikasnagar will be diverted toward Dharmawala through the Shimla Bypass.
The administration has appealed to residents to follow the diversion plan and use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.
