New Tehri: The four-day Tehri Acro Festival and National SIV Championship 2026, held at Koti Colony, Tehri, concluded grandly on Friday. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated as the chief guest in the closing ceremony. During this time, the Chief Minister observed a live paragliding show and honored the players.
The Chief Minister said that Tehri Garhwal is now becoming a major center not only for energy production but also for tourism and adventure sports. Such events are providing employment opportunities to local youth along with promoting tourism. He launched the “Himalayan O2” project, calling it a significant step towards environmental protection and clean air.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development schemes worth Rs 26 crore 45 lakh 86 thousand. These include several schemes including roads, education, panchayat buildings, Ayurvedic hospitals, water quality laboratories, and Suman Park redevelopment.
District Magistrate Nitika Khandelwal said that the festival included international participants from 11 countries as well as national-level players, and Tehri Lake is being developed as a global adventure tourism destination. On the occasion of the closing ceremony, winning players including Mridul Payal, Gaurav Thakur, and Kapil Nautiyal were honored.
CM Dhami said that the government is continuously making efforts to give the lake and the surrounding areas of Tehri an international identity in the field of water sports. Due to the organization of the Acro Festival, Tehri has gained global recognition. Self-employment opportunities have increased for the people here.
Kapil Nautiyal, who secured the first position in the competition, said that he is very happy to receive the first prize. He said that Tehri Lake is suitable for adventure sports.
