Dehradun: Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologized to the public during his visit to Dehradun for arriving late. Addressing a program at Garhi Cantt, he said he had started on time, but due to a 12-kilometer-long roadshow and overwhelming public enthusiasm, it took longer to reach the venue.
He began his speech by greeting people in Garhwali and Kumaoni and apologized for the long wait. He said that from Kali Temple to the venue, the massive crowd and enthusiasm slowed down the convoy, causing a delay of over an hour.
The Prime Minister said that the large turnout despite the heat reflects the affection and trust of the people of Uttarakhand. He added that he is taking new energy and inspiration from Devbhoomi and expressed gratitude to the people.
On this occasion, he also inaugurated the 6-lane expressway connecting Dehradun to Delhi, which will significantly reduce travel time from 6–7 hours to about 2.5 hours.
A major highlight of the expressway is the 12-kilometer-long elevated corridor passing through the Rajaji National Park area, designed with wildlife safety in mind.
The visit generated great enthusiasm across the state, with a large number of people welcoming the Prime Minister.
