Tanakpur: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the traditional Magh Khichdi feast program held at Sharda Ghat in Tanakpur, conveying a message of connection with the rich folk culture of the state. The Chief Minister himself distributed prasad (blessed food) to the devotees and partook in the Magh Khichdi prasad while sitting with the local citizens.
During the program, he also enthusiastically participated in the ancient Kumaoni folk tradition of “Khadi Holi” with the local women. The women, dressed in traditional attire, formed a circle and sang Kumaoni folk songs, in which the Chief Minister also joined in.
The entire atmosphere was filled with devotion, joy, and cultural pride to the melodious rhythm of drums and folk tunes. The Khadi Holi echoing through the streets of Tanakpur presented a beautiful glimpse of the vibrant folk traditions of Kumaon.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the month of Magh symbolizes devotion, simplicity, restraint, and harmony. Traditions like the Khichdi feast bind society together, while folk art forms like Khadi Holi connect us to our roots, culture, and heritage. He said that such traditions strengthen social unity and introduce the new generation to their cultural identity.
