CM Dhami Inaugurates New Building at Danya Government College; Facility Built at a Cost of ₹49.6 Million to Enhance Educational Infrastructure

Almora: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday addressed a public gathering at the Ramlila Ground in Danya and announced several development initiatives for the region. During the visit, he also inaugurated a newly constructed building at Government Degree College Danya, built at a cost of approximately ₹49.6 million (₹4.96 crore).

The new academic building is expected to provide improved educational infrastructure and better learning facilities for students in the area.

Major Announcements

During the public meeting, the Chief Minister announced:

  • Construction of a grand memorial gate in Almora in memory of Lieutenant Bireshwar Goswami.
  • Development of the Chamtaula sports ground.
  • Construction of a mini stadium at Government Degree College Garurabanj.
  • Construction of four additional classrooms at Government Inter College Garurabanj.
  • Beautification of the areas surrounding Prem Mandir and Radha-Krishna Temple.

He also announced:

  • Construction of a new motor road connecting the Kachori area on the Kheti–Jageshwar road to the Kaluta polling booth.
  • Upgradation of Government Higher Secondary School Chagethi.

Focus on Balanced Development

The Chief Minister stated that the state government is committed to the balanced and comprehensive development of all regions of Uttarakhand. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is achieving new milestones of development, and Uttarakhand is progressing along the same path.

He emphasized that the government is working to preserve Uttarakhand’s cultural and spiritual heritage while simultaneously promoting tourism. Under the master plan for the development of Jageshwar Dham, several projects are being implemented to increase tourism and generate employment opportunities in the region.

Tourism and Youth Initiatives

CM Dhami highlighted efforts to promote:

  • Winter tourism
  • Ayurveda-based tourism
  • Yoga and wellness tourism
  • The “One District, One Festival” initiative to strengthen local economies

He also stated that Uttarakhand has earned recognition as India’s most film-friendly state and noted that the state’s anti-cheating law has helped ensure transparency in recruitment examinations, benefiting young job seekers.

Other Dignitaries

Speaking at the event, Ajay Tamta said that development projects in Uttarakhand have gained momentum due to the efforts of the “double-engine government.”

After the public gathering, the Chief Minister visited the residence of Pawan Pant in Danya, where he participated in a recital of the Shrimad Bhagavata Purana and prayed for the prosperity, happiness, and well-being of the people of Uttarakhand.

The event was attended by MLA Mohan Singh Mehra, District Panchayat Chairperson Hema Gaida, state ministers Ganga Bisht and Kundan Latwal, District Magistrate Anshul Singh, and SSP Chandrashekhar R. Ghodke, along with a large number of public representatives and local residents.
