Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, approved 10 major proposals relating to education, adventure tourism, employment, financial administration, and land rights. Among the most significant decisions was the abolition of the separate budget allocation for grants to Arabic-Persian (Arabia) madrasas from the 2027–28 financial year.
The government clarified that only institutions recognised by the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority will be permitted to operate in accordance with the new regulations.
The Cabinet also approved the Uttarakhand River Rafting and Kayaking (Amendment) Rules, 2026, which introduce stricter safety standards for adventure tourism activities and provide for stringent action against operators violating the rules.
To facilitate the expansion of the Frontier Institute of Technology under construction at Madhdhura in Pithoragarh, the Cabinet approved the transfer of 14.857 hectares of land to the Technical Education Department. The institute will include modern academic buildings, hostels, laboratories, sports facilities, and other infrastructure.
The Cabinet also approved a proposal under the PM POSHAN Scheme to supply cooked mid-day meals from the centralised kitchen of the Akshaya Patra Foundation to students in selected schools in the Srinagar area of Pauri district.
Other decisions included granting Seventh Pay Commission pay scales to 68 regular employees of the Uttarakhand State Warehousing Corporation, creating two new posts for concurrent audit of Haridwar Kumbh 2027, and amending the Uttarakhand Finance Service Rules to remove anomalies related to promotions.
The Cabinet also approved the restructuring of the state’s Financial Audit Cell to strengthen financial oversight and sanctioned the formation of a seven-member Project Management Unit (PMU) to operate the Overseas Employment Cell at the Sahaspur Skill Hub.
Additionally, a committee headed by the Chief Secretary will prepare a detailed proposal to resolve land rights issues related to Bapugram, Bindukhatta, and 54 Bagga. The committee will examine legal aspects before forwarding recommendations to the Central Government.
