Dehradun: An initiative has been taken to provide better healthcare facilities to ex-servicemen and their dependants in Champawat district. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has written to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, informing him that the proposal to establish a ‘Type D’ polyclinic in Champawat under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) would be given due consideration.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had earlier requested the Defence Minister to establish an ECHS polyclinic in Champawat. In response, the Defence Minister said that the Central Organisation of ECHS had received a proposal to establish a polyclinic in Champawat to meet the healthcare needs of ex-servicemen and their dependants. He assured that the proposal would be duly considered.
A large number of ex-servicemen and their families reside in Champawat and other border areas. The establishment of an ECHS polyclinic would reduce their dependence on distant locations for healthcare services. Following the positive response from the Ministry of Defence, hopes for improved healthcare facilities have increased among ex-servicemen and their dependants in the region.
Keeping in mind the healthcare needs of ex-servicemen, Chief Minister Dhami had taken up the matter with the Central Government on priority. Following the Defence Minister’s assurance, expectations have now grown that further action will be taken towards establishing an ECHS polyclinic in Champawat.
